How Shield Therapeutics builds its own retail investor audience, one trading update at a time.

Shield Therapeutics has a large, closely engaged retail register that wants to hear from management directly. Its own InvestorHub is now where every quarterly trading update is presented live, and where that audience grows.

Problem

Shield Therapeutics is a commercial-stage pharmaceutical company with a large, closely engaged shareholder base, many of them retail investors who follow the business closely. Each trading update is a key moment in the investor calendar, and shareholders want to hear the story from management, not just read it in an RNS. Shield previously ran its webinars on a third-party platform, where updates went out to an invited list of investors the platform held. Every session built someone else’s audience, not Shield’s.

Solution

Shield now presents every quarterly trading update live on its own investor hub. The RNS goes out in the morning, and the same day the CEO, CFO and CCO present and take questions. The announcement, registration, replay and Q&A all sit in one place.

03

Impact

Across three webinars in 2026, investors submitted 92 questions, 66 before the sessions and 26 live, and live viewers watched 86% of each session on average. Each webinar brings in new members, and the hub has roughly tripled in size since the Q1 update in May. Shield can now see which attendees are confirmed shareholders and which are prospective investors.

“When investors register through our Hub, they join our community. Every webinar grows an audience we own, and for a company with a retail register like ours, that’s what matters most.”

Step by step

How they did it.

Three moves, in the order Shield Therapeutics made them.

  1. 1

One place for every trading update

Shield’s reporting rhythm is built around its quarterly trading updates. The RNS goes out in the morning, and the same day the CEO, CFO and CCO go live on InvestorHub to present the results and answer questions. Everything an investor needs sits together on the hub: the announcement, the webinar registration, the replay and the Q&A. Investors who sign up to the hub get Shield’s news and webinar invites automatically, so the team no longer manages separate mailing lists or third-party event tools. After each session, Shield gets a full report on who attended, how long they stayed and which questions were asked.

  2. 2

    An audience Shield owns

Shield used to host its webinars on a third-party platform, where updates went out to an invited list of investors that the platform held. Moving webinars onto its own hub changed who the audience belongs to. Investors who register through the hub join Shield’s community, so every webinar adds to an audience Shield owns and can reach again next quarter. The people in the room are Shield’s own investors, not a general audience passing through someone else’s platform, and many are retail shareholders who follow the business closely. For a company with a large retail register, that direct relationship matters most.

  3. 3

    Learning from every session

The Q&A shows management what’s really on investors’ minds, and the attendance data shows who is listening. Shield can see which attendees are confirmed shareholders, which are prospective investors, and how each group engages. Several of its largest private holders attend every session and often come back to the replay. With live viewers watching 86% of each session on average, management has real confidence that its message is reaching the people it needs to, and a relationship it can build on quarter after quarter.

The flywheel

Each turn makes the next one easier.

None of these are needle moving by themselves, but together and over time they combine and grow on each other to make each move more and more impactful.

Attract
Reach the whole register directly, rather than the twenty holders who take the calls. More of the register hears from you, so more of it can respond.
Understand
Every open, read, click and question is a signal about who is actually paying attention, and to what. The register stops being a list of names.
Engage
Answer what shareholders actually asked, while they are still asking it. That earns the next open, which is what makes the next turn sharper than this one.

Which is why the wheel doesn’t just keep turning, it gets better at turning. The register you engage this quarter is the register you understand next quarter.
